Make your own sea level rise maps

Boston & 7m

You can create your own flood maps quite easily in Google Earth (v4.0). This technique works for city size regions, not continents.

1) Zoom into your city of choice.

2) Under preferences, set Terrain Quality to Highest

3) Set Vertical Exageration to 3

4) Click the Add Polygon icon (also under the Add menu)

5) Click 3 times on your map, making a big box around your city of choice. You can click and drag but it gets messier.

6) Label it in the box that pops up and add a Description

7) Under the Style/Color tab, select a color for Filled/outline, and set the opacity to around 50%

8) Under View select "Snapshot current view"

9) Under Altitude enter 7 and then select "Absolute"

10) Select OK.

Optional: Turn on 3D Buildings
